Bhaktivedanta VedaBase: Śrī Caitanya Caritāmṛta Madhya 20.15
lobha ha-ila yavanera mudrā dekhiyā
rātre gańgā-pāra kaila dāḍukā kāṭiyā
lobha ha-ila — there was attraction for the money; yavanera — of the meat-eater; mudrā dekhiyā — seeing the golden coins; rātre — at night; gańgā-pāra kaila — he got him across the Ganges; dāḍukā — shackles; kāṭiyā — breaking.
When the meat-eater saw the coins, he was attracted to them. He then agreed, and that night he cut Sanātana's shackles and let him cross the Ganges.
