jhārikhandera jalera doshe, upavāsa haite

gātre kandu haila, rasā pade khājuyāite

SYNONYMS

jhārikhandera — at the place known as Jhārikhanda; jalera — of the water; doshe — by the fault; upavāsa haite — by fasting; gātre — on the body; kandu — itches; haila — there were; rasā — fluid; pade — oozes out; khājuyāite — by itching.

TRANSLATION

Because of bad water in the Jhārikhanda forest and because of fasting, Sanātana Gosvāmī contracted a disease that made his body itch. Thus he was afflicted with itching sores from which fluid oozed.
